About EXAMS

WHAT IS IT?

Leaders Of Rock is proud to announce that we are taking enrolments for the following AMEB Rockschool examinations!

Rockschool Graded Exams are perfect for the contemporary musician who would like to benchmark their learning through a globally recognised qualification. Rockschool and AMEB have recently formed a partnership to support achievement and inspire learning of rock and contemporary music in Australia.

HOW IT WORKS?

In a Rockschool Graded Exam*, students perform 3 pieces, technical work and a series of aural theory tests in front of a panel of examiners.

The benefits of taking this exam are many:

  • Taking an exam can help a student manage their motivation and confidence on the instrument towards a common goal.

  • It’s a milestone achievement to complete an exam! You’ve completed a huge learning goal and get a certificate and feedback from examiners other than your teachers.

  • Rockschool Exams are particularly fun because you can choose up to 2 free choice pieces to be examined on, and the series of mini tests help you consolidate everything you know about music theory and your instrument (e.g sight reading, ear tests, improvisation etc.)

  • Once you have a holistic knowledge of music theory, you have the ability to jam and improvise with your school friends and pursue further studies if you wish.

*We also take ANZCA exams – a different exam board with similar, but with a more “classical” syllabus. Enquire below if you would like to find out more

HOW TO SIGN UP?

We are now taking expressions of interest for the following examination periods:

Rockschool: 6 June - 22 June, 8 August - 3 September, 3 October – 13 November

ANZCA: August/September, October/November

To register your interest, please click on the signup form below.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER?

After your expression of interest has been received, your teacher and I will be in touch to organise a 4-week onboarding period during your lessons.

We place you in a Grade according to your ability, try the songs and technical exercises and see if you like it.

If it’s not for you, no worries, we’ll go back to our regular lesson plans.

If you love it, let’s jump on board and take an exam together!
